Last week I noticed an array of spring flowers crocuses and daffodil’s already in bloom, it seems out of character rather like a change in your child’s behaviour. It’s only mid-February, growing up in the countryside daffodils didn’t appear in our garden until March, we had a whole corner filled with them near the willow tree. Everything is changing, children seem to be growing up faster than ever, particularly with the advent of technology but this is coupled with changes in their sleep patterns and behaviour, more often than not, in a negative way.
When things go well parents love to brag about how well their child is doing, (if you don’t you should- I wholeheartedly recommend it) but more often than not many parents keep quiet about bad or challenging behaviour, unless it’s seen by others. This opens up a whole raft of opinions and other peoples’ advice and suggestions ranging from, ‘oh don’t worry about X, he’s only little and it’s normal ie. IGNORE, to you should be able to control your child better =JUDGEMENT or ‘if it were my child I would never do XYZ’ =ONE UPMANSHIP and that leaves you to hide away and doubt yourself, lose all confidence and still be faced with the same challenge.
Your child is like a flower and goes through different seasons and phases, when the conditions are right, fed and well watered they grow and bloom beautifully, yet when it’s too hot or too cold they feel uncomfortable or complain a lot. When you get things in flow, have the right balance of food, water and the right environment everything feels and looks good even you.
When you are not getting the results you expect from your child, check they have the essentials first, start with food and water before you panic about worse conditions and possibilities, often a small adjustment or tweak is necessary.
If you feel like you have tried everything and nothing is working with your child and you want to see your child bloom and shine with better behaviour or more sleep lets set you up for parenting success and a happy home life.
Want help before the Easter break? I have space for two new families get in touch if you are ready for more fun and joy.
