For the love of sleep, how was last week or your child’s half term? Did you manage to have a break or was life full-on even if you went away to a beautiful place for a holiday. We imagine holidays to be wonderful, relaxing, fun, and a great time to connect with your children especially if you work long hours and don’t get to see as much of them as you would like to. As soon as you stop work for a holiday you want to switch off and catch up on sleep, the problem is the kids won’t let you. They want you to play, get up early, take them to the playground, run around in the garden or park, it’s non-stop until they are tired out. Give me 5 minutes peace. Another 10 minutes and I’ll get up. It falls on deaf ears, they want you and now.
How do you get a child to sleep longer or wake after 6am and is it even possible? Many of my clients are astounded when their child’s sleep improves and we’re not talking about 10-20 minutes later we are talking about an hour or more with no night wakings. When a child is constantly waking it affects their mood, their energy levels and ability to concentrate and it makes life for everyone around them.
Sleep is a national and international concern, certainly in the UK sleep issues are rising as are the number of prescriptions for anti-depressants and children suffering anxiety and depression, figures have risen to over 9 million 22-23. In some cases anti-depressants are necessary however with the right support and a good nights sleep you and your child will feel 10’x better. If this something you are struggling with and want to look at natural alternatives to better sleep, get in touch.
