Baby weaning can be a pretty messy time, here is a picture of a truly happy baby enjoying one her first meals with solids. I think the face says it all! It is amazing how some babies don’t enjoy their solids at first and prefer milk for longer than they really need it. If your baby has been sleeping through the night and has now starting waking up, chances are your baby is ready to be weaned. If your baby is under six months it’s best to try increasing their milk in take first. The W.H.O World Health Organisation recommends it is best to start weaning around 6 months old although it depends on your child.  One of the reasons for this is that by this time a baby’s iron supply will have dropped and they will need to get iron from other sources.
Here’s a list of 10 Iron rich foods are
- broccoli,
- Â spinach,
- Â formula or whole milk cows milk,
- prunes,
- Dreid apricots,
- Egg yolks
- Red meat
- Turkey
- lentils etc.
- Liver
Please not that babies should not have runny eggs until 8 months old
