If your toddler is waking up in the middle of the night it can be a real challenge to get them to re-settle. It is always best to go to them before they fully wake up and try to re-settle them especially if you have neighbour that can hear everything through the walls. I know many parents feel so tired at night especially if they have to go to work the next day, so reluctantly they take him into their bedroom. The next thing that happens is you get kicked for the rest of the night or one of you hops into the spare bed or actually changes place with their child. I wonder how many parents have done or are still doing this every night?
A toddler is perfectly capable of sleeping through the night unless they are sick or have been woken up by a loud noise, the problem is most parents fear that once they’ve taken their son or daughter into their bed they have set a rod for their own back. The best thing is to reassure them and try to keep them calm and relaxed before you leave the room. If they are waking up and wanting a bottle in the middle of the night it can be a battle to stop this happening, I suggest you feed them more food in the day.
Every child is different and what works for one family does not work for another, sometimes it just take time to get your toddler into a good sleep routine. If you don’t want to leave things to chance or you feel you’ve tried everything get in touch and I will try to help.
In the mean time Sweet Dreams, I hope you have a full night’s sleep.
