If I was Mary Poppins….
Forget that I’m the Sanity Nanny if I was Mary Poppins and you were a child again, what would you ask for? Would you still long for that pony your parents never bought you, the house with a swimming pool or would it be a certain toy that gave you pleasure that you never owned?
Taking a trip down memory lane is a worthwhile exercise as it reconnects you with who you really are, what you enjoy most and want you are really good at. It may seem silly but go back to Christmas Day and tell me how much joy you got from watching your child open their Christmas presents and the look on their faces.

When I was little
These moments are priceless. It’s not just the actual moment, it’s what’s behind all this, the planning, the working hard to earn the money, the secrets you had to keep, the wrapping of the gift and the feeling you had in your heart when you knew your child was going to overjoyed and you captured that special moment on camera.
Christmas is not all about giving and receiving, it’s about remembering who we are, who our family is, what is really important to us and how we can enjoy the most happiness with our children, particularly in the early years when toddlers and young children are full of innocence and excitement. Really it’s not about the money or how expensive the gift was, it’s about how it made us FEEL inside.
What was your best present and why? How was your Christmas, was there something missing for you, did someone upset you or were you too tired to remember most of it? Things come and go so quickly, and we think things don’t matter but when you are not feeling as happy as your children or do not have the energy to get down and play with them, you will be filled with a sense of guilt or will be blocking yourself from having what you want. When you deny yourself of something, you are also denying your child too, they will pick up on your mood and thoughts too.
Now you’ve had time to think about your childhood, let’s turn our thoughts to what you want this year, what is going to change for you and fill your heart with joy? Will it be a new baby, starting a new job, moving to a new home or will you continue as you are, being busy but not always finding enough time for you?
In January I will be running a FREE training on-line, so it’s easy for you to access to help you get 2019 off the start you wish for. I will be returning as the Sanity Nanny not Mary Poppins and this training will give you chance to be YOU, without drama, excuses or sleepless nights, that’s if you need it. Wishing you a Healthy, Happy and Fun Filled New Year!
